News Brief

HAITIAN REGISTRY

At present, the Haitian Registry is temporarily closed until further notice due to the alarming socio-political situation the country is going through. Over a month ago the Haitian people took to the streets in protest for the rise of prices and other economic policies taken by their current government. The civil unrest and the protests continue to this day, resulting in the temporary closure of most governmental agencies, including the Trademark Registry. Hopefully, the situation in Haiti will restore quickly and trademark registrations will proceed accordingly.

CUBAN REGISTRY

Hurricane Ian directly impacted Cuba's electrical power grid. Cuban residents countrywide are currently subject to blackouts while the power grid is being repaired. The Cuban Registry was not affected, and trademark registrations are proceeding as normal. However, the Cuban Registry has limited its business hours for the reception of filings until noon (12 pm), without exception for files with imminent deadlines.
